FRAGMENTS 3.1
2023 LOMOGRAPHY & WATERCOLOUR/PAPER
The project “Fragments 3.1” is devoted to the study of the phenomenon of the creation of historical facts. Through personal experience in reconstruction of my own memories, I try to visualize the process of filling gaps in events over time. The project illustrates how memory erases the past and makes a completely new story from the remaining fragments.
In my work for this project I was inspired by fragments of mosaics and dishes, which archaeologists discover during excavations, often with large losses of drawing or details. Somewhere you can guess what the original object looked like, and sometimes it’s impossible to understand what it used to be. I collected my old lomographic pictures, put them in a kind of mosaics and transferred them onto the archival documents that I found on Rastro. The documents are fragmented same as my memories of the events on the photos. And, like excavated vases and paintings, they do not add together, so it is not possible to restore the chronology of events. However, a new story is created from drawings and texts, which will remain until it is rewritten again.
