OPUS MAGNUM

The project was born from studying traces of art and cultural codes from different eras—left on walls, from prehistoric cave paintings to contemporary graffiti—as well as from an attempt to understand the human need to leave behind a mark of remembrance, and the subconscious desire to find sacred meaning in the mark left by someone else. 

The series draws a parallel between the four stages of the alchemical process and the ways of knowing through lived experience: sensory, intellectual, empirical, and social (Odyssey, Melancholia, Alchemy, Autocracy). As a reminder of each stage, encrypted messages—rendered in invisible fluorescent ink—are applied to panels designed to mimic fragments of concrete walls, visible only under ultraviolet light.
